Angels & Divas Enjoy Success at Waltrip Competition by Karen Arguello c/o 14

MILBY_Congratulations to the Charlie’s Angels and Milby Divas! On February 8th, 2014 the dancers competed in the Marching Auxiliaries Dance Competition at Waltrip High School.

The Angels took their usual three dances; a jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. They danced to “Applause” by Lady Gaga for the jazz routine. “Take Your Shirt Off” by T-Pain for hip hop, and “The Wheel” by Sohn for the contemporary dance routine.

The Senior Angels danced a small ensemble to “Timber” by Ke$ha. Each senior performed either a solo or a duet to a contemporary style song. Karen Arguello, Yomyra Herrera, Celina Mejia, and Lizbeth Uribe all did a solo. Silvia Vega danced a duet with Jose Villanueva to “Say Something.” And to start them off, sophomore Kayla Thomas, and junior Idalis Villegas, danced a duet to “Stimela.”

The Divas showed off their styles by dancing a pom and flag routine. They danced to “Work” by Brittany for their pom and to “Let me Sign” for their flag. This was the first year they performed a flag routine at a competition. Sophomore Evelyn Castillo performed a flag solo to “Love me Again” by John Newman.

At the end of the day, the Angels received a Super Sweepstakes trophy and High Points for all three dances. The senior dance placed second in the category. The Divas received a One Superior award, and Evelyn placed first in the auxiliary category.

It was a great experience, and the girls were able to show their talents and represent their school.
