Cross Country’s First Meet of 2013 by Maynor Gutierrez c/o 14

MILBY_Cross country is a sport in which teams and individuals run a race of 3.1 miles.The Milby cross country team has a good record and has a good coach. Mr.Roberts is the one in charge of the cross country teams. They had their first meet this Friday October 4, 2013 at Dickinson High School. It was a tough competition.

Willam Rivera,one of the senior students on the cross country team was the first one out of all the guys from the varsity team to finish the 3.1 miles and he was the 44th out of all the teams. Junior Varsity captains (and siblings) Jesus & Marlene Chavez finished first in the JV race- Jesus finished 36th overall out of almost 70 runners.

Renata Rodriguez, also one of the seniors students was the first one out of all the girls from varsity to finish the 3.1 miles. Coach Roberts said.”They were competing with the best schools in the whole state of Texas like Needville, Cinco Ranch, Cy Falls, and Dawson.”

The next meet this Friday October 11, 2013 at Houston Baptist University, where the teams will continue to prepare for the District 21-4A Meet in two weeks. Everybody support the cross country teams!
